Navy Sloth Paintings – Quackers
This is Quackers, an abstract mixed media painting with a duck theme! Yes that’s right yellow duckies everywhere!
Since becoming a mother my life seems to be surrounded by ducks – my daughter loves them! I have never painted anything cute and baby related before but couldn’t find the right artwork online for the nurser. It then occurred to me that I could just create my own. I do after all have a degree in illustration!
Quackers was created by firstly putting my drawing skills to good use and sketching a duck template. I then drew an army of ducks onto fabric, cut them out and glued them onto canvas. Once dried I added layers of white acrylic paint to the whole piece. I then used several shades of yellow and randomly let the oil paint move around the canvas in a messy style.
As a result transforming the painting from cutesy high street reproductions into abstract blurred ducks showing individuality and shaking their tail feathers.
Quackers would be perfect for a childs bedroom, both boys and girls. It would also look particularly great in a playroom or anywhere around the house where your little one can point and interact with it. On that note, making duck noises as you pass is also optional and yes we have reached that level of crazy here in our house. In brief we have become Quackers!
