Navy Sloth Paintings – Notorious A.R.T.

Notorious ART is a modern abstract oil painting using several shades of red paint and some hues of orange and white. due to its limited palette, it relies on texture and patience to find the right shade, balance and composition.

Having studied modern art in university,  I was introduced to the work of Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, and Ad Reinhardt. I was particularly intrigued as to how they created paintings using just one colour. At first glance they appear to be just a block of colour on canvas. I decided to paint my own version, creating a series of fun experimental art and explore the hidden depths of colour and texture.

Art  is such a personal journey and allowing anyone to view it can sometimes be like having your soul on display for the world to judge. Having discovered artists that could shock and leave their audience both puzzled and in awe inspired me to be more adventurous and daring in my approach to painting.
